I had no plans for Sunday. Figured Barbara would want to do some like go to a museum, but I had nothing in mind except to write this blog, assuming I had something to say, and maybe try to put a dent in the last Gray Man book which I started weeks ago but never found time to read for more than a few minutes at a time.
Things turned out differently. About 10, our friends Jeff and Igor, who about busier than one armed paperhangers, called to see if they could come and visit around noon. Anytime they have time for us, we jump at the opportunity. We visited with both of them til Jeff had to leave about 2 but Igor stayed until almost 4.
Igor is Ukrainian, speaks multiple languages and, besides being one of the most accomplish musicians in the world, is also one of the most erudite. Jeff is a former concert pianist, taught musicology at Columbia and now is considered one of the great chefs in the world. He has a cooking school in Florence. Some of the things he does, such as breads and desserts are really extraordinary.
Then as Igor was leaving, our friend Robin Boies came to visit. She rents an apartment just a few blocks from us and loves Florence. Robin, unlike us has an ability to learn other languages, and she is quite fluent in Italian.
Thus most of the day came and went. I basically have no idea of what went on in the States. Yesterday, was the first day I missed having a television. I really wanted to hear everyone talk about not just the indictment, but the stalemate in the House causes by little brats who took their football and went home.

I fell asleep in my chair before 9 p.m. Not sure I will have much to say about world events. From all I can tell, most of the Republicans are still supporting Trump. They keep bring up the fact that Biden kept boxes of records. What a stupid comparison, starting with the fact that the records Biden kept were from the years he was not President. Senators can do anything they want with their documents.
Time will tell, of course, but the indictment is a serious threat to Donald Trump. It is a grave mistake for anyone to dismiss these allegations as being political in nature.
I did listen to Jim Jordan on CNN. Can he really be that stupid and or indoctrinated? Oh my! . That this man is chair of the House Judiciary Committee is truly scary.

Not sure about how I handle Monday. Tuesday morning we leave for two days in Ferrara where I will celebrate my birthday. I have not yet decided if I will have anything to say about another year having gone by and being on the right side of the grass.
No one can say I did not enjoy life or take advantage of whatever greater power allowed me to live such a blessed life. To say I am grateful is a gross understatement.
